Gemini
The STARRY TWINS – a Gemini tale
Once, in a time when gods walked among men and the sky still remembered their names, there were two brothers, twins, born of one mother, but with different fathers. One was mortal, the other divine. And so, begins the story of Castor and Pollux, the star twins of Gemini.
Their mother, Leda, Queen of Sparta, was so beautiful that she caught the eye of Zeus. The sky god ever the trickster came to her not as lightning, but as a swan gliding across a silver lake. From their union two sets of twins were born: Castor and Clytemnestra children of Leda’s husband King Tyndareus, and Pollux and Helen, children of Zeus, crowned with divine light.
Thus, Castor was of the earth, and Pollux of the sky- one would age and die, the other live forever. The brothers were not just bound by blood, but by devotion. They were inseparable-horse tamers, warriors, and protectors of sailors. Wherever one went, the other followed, and together they gleamed like mirrored stars upon the sea.
In battle, as fate would have it, Castor was struck down. His mortal flame, born of earth, flickered, and faded. Pollux, immortal and untouched, screamed his grief to the heavens. He begged his father, Zeus, not for vengeance, but for union. “Let me give him half my immortality or take mine too - for I cannot shine alone.” And so, Zeus, moved by this brotherly love, granted Pollux’s wish. From then on, the twins would share their fate.
Zeus placed them in the heavens as the constellation Gemini - twin lights forever side by side.
But Gemini is more than a sign – it is a conversation between dualities. Mortal and divine, light and shadow, body and spirit, self and other. Those born under Gemini carry this ancient dance with them - a quicksilver mind, a curious heart, and the longing to bridge opposites.
Like Castor and Pollux, you are both earthbound and star born. You carry the voice of dual wisdom and the power to hold paradox in your hands like twin flames.
Mercury, the ruling god of Gemini, infuses the sign with curiosity, cleverness, adaptability, and a love of connection, communication, and discovery.
To be born under this sign means you are a weaver of worlds – a messenger between minds, hearts, and timelessness. Your words unlock doors, your questions stir the winds, and your laughter dances between realities.
Gemini features the prominent stars of Castor, located at 20 degrees Cancer, tied to words, wit and duality, and Pollux, at 23 degrees Cancer, associated with boldness, courage, and artistic ability.
