Leo
The Lion and the Heart of the Sun
Long ago when the gods still whispered to mortals and the stars wove secrets into the night sky, there roamed a mighty lion born not of earth, but of starlight and flame.
He was no ordinary creature, this was the Nemean Lion, fierce and golden, with a hide no blade could pierce and eyes that glowed with the fire of the sun itself. He was sent to earth by the gods, not as a punishment, but as a guardian – an embodiment of courage, strength, sovereignty, and sacred strength.
Yet over time the lion’s heart grew heavy. The world feared his roar, but few honoured his purpose. He wandered alone through the forests and shadowed valleys, longing not for power, but for someone to see the truth of his soul – that his strength came from love, not fury.
It was then that Hercules, the hero on his path of redemption, was sent to face the lion in his first great labour. But when they met in the cave, they did not only wrestle with claws and might- but they also recognized each other. One, a man seeking to rise above his mortal flaws. The other a beast who had forgotten he was divine.
And when at last Hercules subdued the lion, not with blade, but with will, heart, and respect, the gods did not let the lion fade into dust. Instead, they lifted him to the heavens, immortalised as Leo, the constellation of royalty, radiance, and inner truth. Now each year when the sun passes through Leo’s stars, his story is remembered.
Leo teaches that true power comes from within.
That to lead is to love, to shine is not to boast, but to inspire, and to walk with a regal heart is to remember the divine fire placed within you.
For those born under Leo’s crown the lesson is clear:
You are the flame, the heartbeat, the golden roar of the cosmos. Shine not to be seen, but because you cannot help but burn with purpose.
To be born under this sign means your heart is a sun – radiant, generous, and divinely compelled to shine.
You were born to love boldly, lead playfully, and remind the world
that joy is a sacred act of devotion.
Leo is home to the fixed star Regulus located at 0-degrees Virgo. Regulus is one of the four royal stars; called the ‘Heart of the Lion’, it confers honour, fame, and charisma.
Leo has been revered as a symbol of solar kingship and divine right, with ties to Egyptian sphinx myths and the power of the solar heart.
