JUPITER

Zeus and scythe.

Jupiter, known to the Greeks as Zeus, was born to Rhea and Cronus (Saturn). Yet long before his birth, Gaia—Mother Earth—and Uranus—Father Sky—foretold that Cronus, just as he had once overthrown his own father, would in turn be overthrown by one of his children. Gripped by terror of this prophecy, Cronus devoured each newborn the moment they drew breath. One by one, he swallowed Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon, imprisoning them within his belly.

Rhea, devastated and desperate, fled when she found herself once more with child. Upon the island of Crete, she gave birth to Zeus in secret. To shield him from his father’s wrath, she wrapped a stone in swaddling cloth and offered it to Cronus. Deceived, he swallowed the stone, believing it to be his newborn son.

Meanwhile, Rhea entrusted the infant Zeus to the care of nymphs, who raised him in hidden caves. He was nursed by the goat Amalthea, whose divine milk made him strong. As he grew, his spirit burned with purpose—the call of destiny echoing in his veins.

When he had grown to his full strength, Zeus returned to confront his father. With the aid of Metis, the wise Titaness, they brewed a powerful potion that compelled Cronus to disgorge the swallowed gods—alive and unharmed, for they were immortal.

Thereafter began the great war between the Olympians and the Titans—a battle that shook the very heavens. Zeus led his siblings in defiance of the old order, and when the storm of war had passed, the Titans were cast down into Tartarus—the deepest abyss of the underworld.

With the war won, Zeus and his brothers drew lots to divide creation: Zeus claimed the sky and heavens, Poseidon the sea, and Hades the underworld. From his throne upon Mount Olympus, Zeus watched over gods and mortals alike, the arbiter of justice and the keeper of divine order.

And when the heavens turned and the signs were written among the stars, Jupiter’s spirit was inscribed in Sagittarius—the Archer, ever reaching toward higher truth. In Sagittarius lives the questing heart of Zeus, the seeker of wisdom, the bringer of vision. His thunderbolt becomes a spark of enlightenment, his boundless sky a symbol of faith and expansion.

Through Sagittarius, Jupiter reminds us that divine power is not only to rule, but to understand and to aim ever upward toward truth.

When Zeus Lives in You:

If you were born under the sign of Sagittarius, you carry a compass inside your chest, spinning wildly toward freedom, purpose, and somewhere else. You are not meant to stay in one place—not in your body, your beliefs, or your town.

The fire in you is a sacred one: it hungers for more, more understanding, more connection, more sky. You may try to live a ‘normal’ life, but your soul knows better. You are wired to seek. You were born for the long road.

Sagittarius energy is the urge to leap before you look, not because you are reckless, but because your faith is stronger than your fear. It is the sacred chaos that comes with growth, with daring, with truth-telling.

Sagittarius energy is:

• An adventurous soul – thrives on freedom, travel, and discovery; the world is both playground and teacher.

• A philosophical mind – seeks meaning and truth, always asking the big questions about life and purpose.

• Optimistic fire – radiates enthusiasm, humour, and faith in what’s possible, inspiring others to dream bigger.
