THE MOON

Long ago, before time was measured by clocks or calendars, it was counted in moon drops and tides, in cycles and silence, in the rhythms of breath, sea, and womb.

Above it all rode a goddess with silver skin and eyes full of dreams. Her name was Selene, daughter of Hyperion and Theia, sister to dawn and the sun. But Selene did not blaze. She glowed.

She drove her chariot across the night sky, pulled by white—winged horses, lighting the world not with fire, but with feeling. Her path was soft yet certain, weaving through dreams, memories, and the vast ocean of the soul.

Selene’s most famous myth is her love story with Endymion, a mortal shepherd. One night, as she drove her chariot across the heavens, she looked down and saw him sleeping on the slopes of Mount Latmus in Asia Minor. He was so beautiful, so peaceful, that the goddess fell deeply in love. Night after night, she descended from the sky to watch over him as he slept.

Eventually, she asked Zeus to grant Endymion eternal youth and eternal sleep, so he would never age or die—and so she could love him forever, untouched by time. Zeus granted her wish, though the gift was double-edged: Endymion would never awaken yet would remain eternally youthful and dreaming.

Selene embodies the beauty of eternal love, the mystery of night and dreams, and the endless cycles of time and renewal

It was in her honour that the sign of the Crab—Cancer was born. A sign shaped not by action, but by intuition; not by logic, but by longing. Like Selene, Cancer carries the tides of the inner world, where truth is whispered, not spoken.

When Selene Lives in You

If you were born under the sign of Cancer, or if its silver thread is woven through your chart, then Selene speaks through the waters of your soul.

You feel before you think.

You sense what others cannot name.

You remember what the world forgets.

Cancer energy is:

• Emotional depth – feels everything profoundly and often leads with the heart rather than the head.

• Nurturing spirit – protective, caring, and drawn to creating safe, comforting spaces for others.

• Intuitive wisdom – guided by gut feelings and emotional sensitivity; often knows what others need before they do.

• Connection to home and roots – cherishes family, memories, and the sense of belonging that comes from loved ones and familiar places.
